Happy New Year!   • ​"The Defense Department has named a chair to lead its impending cybersecurity certification program. Ty Schieber, the senior director for executive education at the University of Virginia’s Darden School Foundation, will head a 13-member governing body for the organization charged with certifying auditors for DOD’s upcoming unified cybersecurity standard, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification."

  • NextGov – OPM CISO Seeking a Small Business to Help Monitor Agency Cybersecurity

  • ​"The Office of Personnel Management is looking for a vendor to support its cybersecurity efforts with additional security monitoring and program support. The government’s human resources agency is no stranger to cybersecurity issues, including the high-profile 2015 hack of its servers that saw the theft of sensitive personal information on more than 21 million Americans—including all current and former federal employees and anyone who applied to work in the federal government."


  • GovExec –Navy Launches a New Civilian Human Capital Strategy for First Time in a Decade

  • ​"The Navy unveiled a new civilian human capital strategy on Thursday for the first time in about a decade to better compete with the private sector, among other reasons. The main pillars of the 2019-2030 strategy are: tap into the best possible talent, improve employees’ experience at work, better align the civilian workforce with the Navy and Marine Corps mission, identify future skills needs, harness data in employee hiring and retention, reform the talent pipeline process, and ensure employees are training in digital and smart technologies."


  • FedScoop – Army extends enterprise resource planning system to Navy hospitals

  • ​"The Army is now fielding its enterprise resource planning system to Navy hospitals as part of a Defense Health Agency consolidation. Launched in 2012, the Army’s General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) is one of the largest ERP systems globally, handling more than $164 billion in transactions annually."


  • FederalNewsNetwork – At a crossroads: Federal acquisition must evolve more rapidly

  • ​"Let’s just state the obvious — agency contracting officers and other acquisition professionals jobs aren’t getting any easier, anytime soon. Before you say, “Thanks for nothing,” the National Contract Management Association believes there is plenty of light at the end of the tunnel. Kraig Conrad, the CEO of NCMA, said a new survey of federal acquisition professionals gives his organization’s members plenty of hope that the acquisition workforce will see some burden relief in the coming years."
